Global Refuge has helped provide a soft landing and a sense of home for immigrants and refugees for more than 85 years. Their services for children and families include refugee resettlement, foster care, economic empowerment, mental healthcare, crisis response, and more.
In January, the new presidential administration issued a stop work order for all refugee reception and placement services under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). The stop work order immediately and directly affects thousands of refugees, including Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders who aided U.S. military and diplomatic missions. Recently arrived refugees who fled unimaginable danger and lawfully came to the U.S. rely on the initial assistance of Global Refuge to help them navigate their first 90 days in America.
Many immigrants and refugees arrive in the United States with nothing more than the bags they can carry. Global Refuge is committed to walking alongside newcomers as they become empowered members of our community. The organization does this by helping our new neighbors find a place to live, connect with services and resources, learn a new language, enroll in school, and meet a new community. From there, Global Refuge works with individuals and families to build a strong economic foundation, from financial literacy to employment and job search assistance.
With the abrupt and unprecedented cutoff of federal funding, Global Refuge must now rely solely on the generosity of supporters to fill in the gaps to do this important work. Your gift will help Global Refuge provide crucial services to refugees, children, and families in our communities.
