Congregational Care

Parish Nurse Ministry

At Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, caring for one another goes beyond Sunday worship. Our Parish Nurse, Parker Webster, is an integral part of congregational care, offering support at the intersection of faith and health. Whether through education, advocacy, spiritual presence, or connecting members with resources, this ministry reflects our commitment to caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

What a Parish Nurse Does

  • Health Education: Offers classes, newsletters, and one-on-one conversations about wellness, prevention, and healthy living.
  • Advocacy & Support: Walks with individuals and families through health challenges, hospitalizations, and care transitions.
  • Spiritual Care: Provides prayer, presence, and listening, integrating faith into health journeys.
  • Resource Connection: Links members with community resources such as clinics, counseling, support groups, and social services.
  • Health Promotion: Coordinates screenings (blood pressure checks, flu shot clinics, etc.) and health events.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Mobilizes health ministry volunteers for meal trains and home visits.

When to Reach Out

  • You or a loved one is hospitalized, ill, or grieving
  • You need help navigating the healthcare system or finding resources
  • You want to learn more about a health condition or prevention
  • You would like prayer or a listening ear
  • You are interested in volunteering in health ministry

No matter what you’re facing, you don’t have to walk through it alone. Please reach out to Parker if you or a loved one could use support—or if you’d like to join in this vital ministry of care.

Pastoral Care Visits

Would you or a loved one benefit from a visit by our pastoral care team? Please contact Parker or call the church office at 612.866.2579 so that we may begin making arrangements for a day and time suitable for you.

Prayer Requests

If you or someone you care about could use prayer, we’re here to offer support. You may choose to share your request confidentially with Pastor Andrea or Parish Nurse Parker, with the private prayer chain, or with the wider congregation (through the Prayers of the People during worship, and/or the printed weekly announcements). Please fill out the prayer request form located here.

Prayer Shawls

Do you know someone who is experiencing a difficult time? Members of the prayer shawl ministry create beautiful, hand-knitted shawls for giving to our members, friends, and loved ones for a variety of reasons including illness, surgery, hospice care, rehabilitation, comfort, and grieving. If you would like to give a shawl to someone in need of care, please contact the church office.
